Honor Our Past. Own Our Present. Together We Build A Brighter Tomorrow
Some art you hang. This one you inherit.
"SANKOFA SPIRIT" is at his most powerful. Three generations locked in one protective embrace, wrapped in pattern, color, and memory. It is the visual embodiment of Sankofa, the ancient Adinkra principle that teaches us to look back to our past, learn from it, and carry its wisdom forward.
This is not nostalgia. This is strategy. This is how we build a stronger family, a stronger community, a stronger future, by refusing to leave our legacy behind.
Commissioned by "Morgan State University, Visual Arts Department, Baltimore, MD in 2003", this piece has become one of Poncho's most beloved works because it says what we all feel: we belong to each other.
Hang it where your family gathers. Hang it where your children will see it every day. Let it remind your home what it stands on.
